Gathered skirt using fabric with a border

I finally finished my gathered skirt! I found this beautiful fabric at Joann’s. It is from Gretchen Hirsch’s fabric line. I love the white polka dots against the yellow background and the pink roses with the green leaves are so pretty! The colors just POP! Most importantly, it has that vintage vibe that I love so much.

I found a tutorial on Gertie’s blog for better sewing on how to make a gathered skirt. (find it here: how to make a gathered skirt by By the way, Gertie is Gretchen Hirsch. This fabric is from her fabric line! So following this tutorial with this fabric was perfect! I used this tutorial specifically because it works well for fabric with a border. Gertie also has another tutorial but for a wrap skirt. It uses this exact same fabric. You can find the tutorial here: Border print wrap skirt by Gretchen Hirsch. And now, I shall unveil my (eh-hem) masterpiece! Here it is! My finished gathered skirt!

Can’t wait to wear it!

A Boho style birthday party for my girl

I love boho style. I also love the boho style party theme. It’s great for baby showers, baby girl birthdays, bridal showers, and sweet 16 parties. I’m planning a boho themed birthday party and I’ve been busy preparing for it this whole week. It’s for my daughter. She’ll be turning 21 years old. I hope she likes it. Here’s a little sneak peek:

Today I am grateful for my children and what every new year brings for them.

My trip to the Set Shop in L.A.

I had a chance to go to the Set Shop at 428 Colyton Street in Los Angeles to check out their vintage clothing sale.

The event was from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There were alot of people, but the crowd flowed well. The event was very organized. We arrived at around 11:45. We were able to find great parking.

As soon as you walk into the event, there is an ice cream stand. You can buy ice cream served by an ice cream man wearing vintage ice cream parlor man clothing! My husband bought my son a vanilla ice cream cone and entertained him while I went inside to the clothing area to shop. I found out later that they did a little exploring and window shopping of their own. They checked out the stage and looked at some vintage knives.

So many vintage pieces at affordable prices! Clothing, shoes, hats, and jewelry galore! Most of the vendors were dressed in vintage clothing. I felt like I stepped back in time. I could’ve spent all day here.

What a fun event!

Today I am grateful for all things vintage.
