Lavender Orange Shampoo

Let’s make some shampoo. Coconut milk? Coconut oil? Sounds lovely.

Lavender Orange Shampoo:
1/2 cup Dr. Bronner’s Castile liquid soap in Lavender
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil or coconut oil
10 to 12 drops of orange essential oil

For the coconut oil, melt the oil in the microwave for 15 seconds before mixing it with the other ingredients or leave the oil in the sun if you prefer not to microwave. It melts quickly.

Mix or shake all of the ingredients in a jar.

Keep the shampoo in the jar or if you prefer, transfer the shampoo into a reusable plastic bottle with a flip top or squirt top for the shower. Use one teaspoon to shampoo your hair.

Enjoy your homemade shampoo.

Witch Hazel and Olive Oil Eye Makeup remover

Are you looking for a 100% natural and inexpensive way to clean the eye make up off of your eyes? I can tell you that two ingredients will do the trick. They are both 100% natural and relatively inexpensive.

One is olive oil.

The other is witch hazel. I love witch hazel. Witch hazel has so many uses for the face and body. Let’s start with the face, specifically the eyes. If your eyes are puffy from crying or from lack of sleep, you can use witch hazel to take away the puffiness. Soak two cotton pads with witch hazel and put them over your eyes. Witch hazel helps tighten up the skin, including the under eye puffiness which in turn will reduce the bagginess.

This is why I feel that witch hazel along with olive oil used as an eye make up remover is great. It will remove your make up while at the same time, tighten your skin and reduce eye puffiness and bags.

So what are the ingredients needed for this homemade, natural eye make up remover. Just two- Olive oil and witch hazel.

Recipe for Witch hazel and olive oil eye make up remover:

1/4 cup of olive oil
1/4 cup of witch hazel.

Shake gently before using. Soak a cotton ball and gently rub on eyes to remove make up.

It is so refreshing and natural, you will wonder why you spent so much money on eye make up remover that includes ingredients that you can’t even pronounce or define.

I’ve been using this formula for some time now and I have no complaints. Homemade and 100% natural is always best for your face and body. Give it a try.

Oatmeal Face Rub and Mask

Oatmeal is great for your skin. Why, you ask? Well, oatmeal contains healthy fats which help moisturize your skin. It is great as a face wash because it cleanses the pores. In this recipe, it is used as a face cleansing rub and mask.  Oatmeal contains natural cleansers known as saponins. Saponins gently remove dirt and oil from the skin’s pores.

Oatmeal is also great for the skin because it contains proteins that maintain the skins natural barrier.  It prevents dryness by leaving a protective film on the skin to prevent dull, flaky skin.

A great way to reap the benefits of oatmeal is to use an oatmeal face rub and mask every week. Here is a recipe to do just that:

Just 3 ingredients.

SWEET MONDAY’S RECIPE FOR Oatmeal Face Rub and Mask
2 tablespoons of old fashioned oats
1-2 tablespoons of filtered hot water (enough to make a paste)
1/2 teaspoon of honey

1-2 tablespoons of water is just enough water to make a paste with the oatmeal. The antibacterial properties of honey is great for inflamed skin and can also help with dry skin.

oatmeal 3

Rub the oatmeal face rub onto your skin in circular motions to cleanse the face. Make sure your face is clean beforehand with no make up on it. Leave the oatmeal rub on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes to harden and use as a mask.

This oatmeal face rub and mask is great for dry skin and inflamed skin. It’s so natural. The best part is that I’m sure that you have these three ingredients in your kitchen as we speak.

Wishing you a simple soothing Sunday.
