Maxi dress using a tank top pattern

I bought a bunch of patterns for some summer sewing. Since I’m not a good follower of directions, I seemed to have overlooked that this pattern is for knit fabrics… oops. But I’m a rulebreaker. So I used a crepe de chine fabric that I bought and I upcycled the lace from a shirt that I had in my pile of clothes that I no longer wear. It was just enough for the top part of this dress. I also extended the pattern so instead of being a tank top, I hacked it into a maxi dress.

It’s a good idea to follow the pattern directions for what fabric to use, etc. but sometimes you just got to be creative, break the rules and come up with your own style. Be a rule breaker…

Today I am grateful for sewing and creativity.
